Bare & Beards Founder Rin Mitchell
Founded by San Diego-born and Seattle-raised Rin Mitchell, a licensed Skincare Hacker (Esthetician), who constantly struggled with acne and hyperpigmentation from her early teens through adulthood. She tried every ointment and antibiotic on the market to get rid of her acne, but she had little success, and it began to weigh heavily on her self-esteem and confidence. She decided to take matters into her own hands and began researching everything about skin care from products to acne triggers. The two reoccurring themes were product ingredients and diet. Rin decided to go all-natural and chemical-free when it came to her skincare, and adopted a pescatarian diet (vegetarian who eats fish) for several years. It was definitely trial and error when it came to the type of skincare ingredients that worked for her skin type, but she remained patient and continued to seek out information. Eventually she overcame her skin obstacles, yet her interest in skincare and habit of living a healthy lifestyle didn't stop when her skin cleared. She developed a strong passion about the topics of skin and eating healthy, so any opportunity she had to share with others, she was more than willing.
Rin decided to enroll in the San Diego City College Esthetician program in the fall of 2017. She chose to concentrate on the male demographic, and create a clinic and products specifically targeting men.The beauty industry is associated with femininity since everything is geared towards women. Rin believes men don't have the skincare conversation because they aren't included enough; therefore, the conversation isn't happening. Rin's desire is to help change the industry standards, and jump start that conversation among men, because men want nice skin too!
Rin is the youngest of three siblings. She has lived in Brooklyn, New York and Teaneck, New Jersey for a total of six years. She also lived abroad in Barcelona, Spain and Tianshui, China for a combined three years teaching English as a foreign language. Her interests include playing basketball, running, watching the Seattle Seahawks play, learning about different cultures, practicing her Spanish, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. She currently resides in San Diego with her husband.
Bare & Beards is a men’s skin and wellness clinic committed to providing education, skincare services and products to men of various shades of melanin.
With the lack of presence of people of color in product ads, commercials, etc., it is hard to relate to a brand that appears to not only have the man with darker shades of melanin in mind, but men of various cultural backgrounds. Bare & Beards' mission is to pioneer change within the Esthetics industry by being the go-to brand that all men, but especially men of color from different cultural backgrounds can relate to, and know was created with their genetic make up in mind.
We are also committed to quality, value and customer care.
